2009-06-05	The 2009 field season about to start We are now making the final preparations for the 2009 field season. The annual breeding bird inventory will take place 12-15 June. June 27 we will¨ demonstrate ringing in connection with the inauguration of the new "Council Cabin". Around 5 July the ringing of gull and tern chicks on islets and skerries close to Sandskär will take place and 11 July the first field team will begin to open the station for the ringing season. During the summer there is still room for more staff. Take the opportunity to experience the birds at close range on a fabulous island! Look at the link Booking situation 2009! 2008-10-26	The 2008 field season finished The observatory was closed for the season 18 October. In total we managed to ring 3666 birds. The species with ringing numbers above 100 were: Willow warbler (1363), Goldcrest (312), Reed bunting (247), Meadow pipit (199), Robin (138), Wood sandpiper (130). Now you can sign up for 2009. 2007-12-30	The 2007 field season finished The field season 2007 was finished 19 October. In total 2990 birds were ringed. New species to be ringed was Common Stonechat, subspecies maura. Three new species for the island were observed, Water Rail, Lesser Grey Shrike, and Woodchat Shrike. Blue Tit had its best year ever, 207 ringed. Among retraps we note a Goldcrest ringed 5 October at Sandskär and controlled 27 November in Ptuj in Slovenia. Distance: 2183 km. Sign up for the field season 2008!
2007-07-10	Boungemärkningen blåste bort På grund av dåligt väder gick det inte att genomföra boungemärkningen på öar i Haparanda Skärgårds Nationalpark under den gångna helgen.
2007-06-16	Fältsäsongen 2007 Fältsäsongen 2007 inleds med inventering den 15-17 juni. Boungemärkning på öar i Haparanda Skärgårds Nationalpark äger rum i början av juli. Den standardiserade ringmärkningen kommer att bedrivas under perioden 15 juli till 20 oktober. Besökare är välkomna till ringmärkningsplatsen. Några veckor finns det ännu lediga platser för den som vill prova på att arbeta på fågelstationen.

2006-12-23	Videsparv från Haparanda Sandskär hittad i Kina. En videsparv märkt som årsunge den 27 juli 1995 köptes in på en fågelmarknad i Tianjin, Kina den 1 november 1998, 6284 km från Haparanda Sandskär. På rapporten står det "dead because of illegal hunting".
